2022 in review and a sneak peek into 2023

We’re all geared up for 2023! As we look forward towards the coming months, we also took a moment to reflect upon 2022:

Back to Basics

In 2022, we honed in on the value Harvest provides to our customers. Harvest’s founders grew up in the bakery business, spending their childhoods helping the family business. Eventually they applied their technology skills to good use running IT for what has become one of the largest food companies in the US. It was this experience with technology that sparked the founding of Harvest.

Basically we started the company as food people who built a tech company because we were sick of how tech companies treated business that produce food.

We help businesses stay close to what they need, and to get what they want with minimal configurations. How do we do it? By staying close to what Microsoft has built. We take advantage of the investments Microsoft puts into their products instead of needlessly building our own IP – helping provide the tools food businesses need at a lower cost.

We love Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (BC), and there are many things base BC does very well, which is why it is the fastest growing cloud ERP solution in the world. But as all in the food and beverage industry are aware, we have some unique business processes which require changes to be made to any ERP system.

Harvest’s extensions allow you to add that extra functionality to BC without making any costly and complicated changes to the base code. An added benefit is that updates are easier and faster as well, as all the adjustments sit outside Business Central. This also means that your solution is not affected by any of the updates Microsoft pushes out to the standard application.

A year of growth

We’ve always been proud of the amazing team at Harvest and have been fortunate to have grown it this year with the hire of amazing people. Not only is this an indication of the success we see for our company in 2023, but we now have incredible resources for the betterment of our customers as well.

Strength and Recognition

2022 also marked the return of in-person events and we were thrilled to ring it in with the bakery community at the International Baking Industry Exposition (IBIE), where we were also honored with our second Innovation Showcase Award for Harvest Advanced Manufacturing for Bakeries (the last one being in 2019 for Harvest Direct Store Delivery).

We’ve always prided ourselves on the strength of our partnerships, and having multiple partners at our booth was proof in the pudding. At Harvest’s IBIE booth we also had ACSIS, Honeywell and SOTI demonstrating their products and the further benefits of Harvest’s solutions as well. Releases

We just announced the 4th major release of Harvest ERP as a certified Microsoft extension. You can now find the following Harvest Apps on Microsoft AppSource

Looking forward to 2023!

We’re excited for the continual investments Microsoft is putting into Dynamics Business Central and the increased capabilities it provides. The growth of the extension marketplace is also very exciting: Dynamics 365 business application growth is increasing at 47%! This will bring a wealth of options to our customers to help solve unique business issues, e.g. warehousing, without having to rely on custom software. As the industry continues to grow and adapt this technology, we’re positive that even more solutions will be available for food and beverage manufacturers.

There are also some key trends that both manufacturers and customers will be taking note of, including:

  • Economic Volatility
  • Simplification of Business
  • Labor
  • Supply Chain
  • Sustainability

It will be interesting to see how this shapes the food and beverage industry – we have some industry experts lined up to share their insights in the coming months as well!

We’re thankful for our customers and our team for an incredible 2022 and are already looking forward to what’s in store for us in 2023. From Harvest Food Solutions, have a wonderful holiday season, and a happy new year!
