Microsoft recently announced its Wave 1 plans for Dynamics 365 Business Central, which highlights several features and updates that will help food manufacturers streamline business operations, increase efficiency, and improve collaboration.

We’ve read through the release notes and like what we see! And the best part – Harvest’s customers on the Microsoft Cloud can immediately take advantage of the many features, enhancements and new marketplace apps as they become available, without any additional costs and or disruption to the business.

Harvest continues to invest in the critical industry knowledge and features your business requires while letting Microsoft drive platform technologies and security innovations forward. Here are some of the key features that we believe food manufacturers will appreciate in the upcoming release:

Advanced Intercompany Capabilities

2023 release wave 1 improves support for managing multiple companies, including improvements to the intercompany features. These will enable manufacturers to track inventory and manage intercompany sales orders, purchase orders, and transfers more efficiently with a more seamless and flexible intercompany transaction process.

Microsoft Teams Integrations

With the integration of Microsoft Teams, Dynamics 365 Business Central enables efficient collaboration between team members, providing an intuitive platform for business communication and collaboration. The 2023 release wave 1 builds upon the collaborative apps story in Microsoft Teams to drive broader product engagement and access to data across the organization. This release will focus on enhanced adaptive cards in Teams and new settings page for configuring security control for Teams Cards.

Enhanced User Experience

Every release includes enhancements to usability, accessibility, performance, and reliability. 2023 release wave 1 will boost efficiency when working with actions and lists of records. Users can personalize the fields on a page by choosing from existing table fields, reducing the time and effort to optimize their workspace.

  1. Additional Power BI Conductivity: In a world of big data, predictive analytics reporting is no longer a set of predefined reports to cover a historical view of the business, but how you organize and use your data to react to key events, big and small, to optimize the business. This wave will include features and capabilities that give users access to all their data in an easily consumable way.
  2. Seamless Integration with Microsoft 365 Apps: People work smarter and teams perform better when business apps are combined with productivity apps. Business Central seamlessly integrates with best-in-class Microsoft 365 apps and services such as Outlook, Excel, Word, OneDrive, and Teams to bring data into the flow of work. Business Central now makes it easier than ever for administrators to set up access with Microsoft 365 licenses, so that they can choose which employees can view specific business data shared with them in Microsoft Teams, without requiring a Business Central license.
  3. Beautiful Reporting Templates in Word: Use reports to structure and summarize information to print documents, such as invoices. For example, create a report that lists all customers and orders that have been added by each customer. Also, create a report that is automatically filled with the relevant information for an invoice.
  4. Security, Performance, and Stability Improvements: A common theme of all the updates in wave 1 is improving performance, stability, resource governance, security, and compliance. This release further enhances the stability of sign-ins for interactive users and the number of user session interruptions. We also plan to further improve client-side page rendering time across all our page types and controls to make the client even more responsive.

These are just a few of the many new features and improvements coming to Dynamics 365 Business Central with Wave 1, which will begin to roll out from April 1, 2023.
